Adding and organising your trees
Keep tree identity, stage and location accurate so your garden records stay useful.
Last updated 3 November 2026
- 1Open Trees and choose the add-tree action.
- 2Enter the name and species as accurately as you can. Add a human label if that helps you recognise it.
- 3Choose the tree’s current maturity. Add its position from the garden map when you know it.
- 4Save and open the tree to check its details.
Labels and references
Tree chips use your label when supplied, otherwise the tree’s name, with a category badge. The app assigns the map reference; you do not need to invent a number. Use the tree picker or mention suggestions to link records to the right plant.
When something changes
Correct a tree’s details from its page. The phone app offers a removal status for a plant that should no longer be planned for. The website currently offers deletion instead; read its impact confirmation carefully before using it. Records and past work are history; adding a different plant is not a reason to quietly relabel the old plant’s history.
A newly added tree may need a seasonal catch-up review. Its growth stage is explained in tree maturity.
